Rayagada is a beautiful and mineral rich city situated in the southern part of Odisha. The city is a quite popoular among the Tourists for its attractive gateways.The city of Rayagada is administrative headquarter and was founded on 2nd October 1992. Apart from the scenic beauty,the city is famous for its glorious historic records. The city population is mainly dominated by tribals.

                     "Chaiti Festival " or "Rayagada Mahostav" is the official annula mass cultural festival of Rayagada district,India. It is one among the major tourist attractions in the district.

Places to visit in Rayagada :

Maa majhighariani Temple:



An avatar  of Goddess Durga, Majhigouriani is accepted as the prime,most important deity in this region. The name originates from the placement of Shaktis temple in the middle of the fourteenth-century silavansi king Viswanath Devs palace and translates to the one seated in the central room.This temple attracts worshippers from all over the state and the country,especially Madhya Pradesh,Andra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

                Durga pooja and Shivratri also see an abundant influx of Pilgrims.The festival of Chatra Parva,which falls in April,is the most crucial time of the year for  worshippers of Shiva and Majhighariani,which is also the the time this temple is the most crowded.

Hanging Bridge :


Hanging bridge,Chekaguda The hanging bridge in the Chekaguda village of Rayagada is the second of its kind in Odisha.Built in 2012,the 151 meters long suspended bridge has brought about 20,000 odd tribal villagers residing in nine panchayats located at the outskirt of the town,closer to the central city,by bringing the two shores of the Nagavali river.Also called the Jhula Bridge,given its construction,it is accessible only by pedestrians,as no vehicles are allowed to go through it.The Nagavali river has since become a tourist spot and the bridge a tourist attraction.as Families come to enjoy the serene environment of the river,the mountain around the valley and the  relative peace.


Chatikona Falls:




Chatikona falls is a small tribal village located around 40 kms north of Rayagada and falls under Rayagada district administration.it is surrounded by the Niyamgiri hills and offers tourists impeccable natural beauty complete with lush green foliage and a fantastic waterfall. Chatikona falls attracts numbers of tourists and picnickers and the shiva temple near it draws pilgrims from all over Odisha,espcially during the periods of Shivratri, when it can be very crowed.

BY TRAIN :Tourists can even take trains till Bissamcuttack railway station,which is the nearest to Chatikona.


Hatipathar, Rayagada :




Hatipathar is a beautiful tourist destination located just 3 km from Rayagada town. The main attraction is the two large rocks.The  name of the place is Hathipathar because the two rocks at the top of the hill look like huge elephants.Another major attraction of the place is the Hathipathar waterfall. Two waterfall views from the Nagavali river view point,which is located 3 km from the city of Rayagada.it is a popular tourist places in Rayagada.this place is surrounded by hills that attract tourists to come here.

Laxminarayan Temple :



Laxminarayan temple is situated inside the Therubali imfa Factory and is about 25 km distance from Rayagada town.The deities Laxminarayan,Hanuman,Lord Shiva,Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra is worshipped in this temple. There is a beautiful park in the temple campus.it is the famous temple in the Rayagada District.Holi,Janma Astami and Ram Navami are the main festvals of the temple,A large of devotes come to see the festival and observed.
